Click to expand. You need an Intel Mac to run Windows XP via a Boot Camp install or virtualised through Parallels. Your PowerBook doesn't support either because it uses a PowerPC processor.
You can run XP on your PowerBook by purchasing either Microsoft's Virtual PC for Mac (no, it's not the free one, VPC:mac costs a fair bit of cash) or using a similar emulator such as Qemu. Virtual pc 7 for mac Hi, I have a G4 1.67 GHz power pc as well, with 2 GB ram. I have Virtual pc 7, and tried to install a recent version of windows xp professional version, but it always gets to the point in the installation process of 'installing post SP3 components,' and then gives me an error message, 'this cpu does not have streaming simd extensions support', and stops there. Never mind running slow, it seems like my physical mac just doesn't have what it takes to install the damn software in teh first place.
But isn't that what virtual pc is supposed to be for? Does anyone know if it's really possible to install this on my mac?
